Hello my name is Kimberly Wilkins. I call my style of art “Whimsical Folk Art”. Some of my stuff is for sale at Masset Winery 312 E Yakima Ave. I am visually impaired but that doesn’t make me disabled. I’ve been this way all my life. So if you see me and wave hello and I don’t respond I’m not a bitch I just didn’t see you.
Have a Great day!
It's taken me years to really process what my collages were becoming...many of them
hang in my house ...frames incomplete, I am in search of old barnwood for framing...but the pieces are most all textures of the natural world, with some fabrics and textiles I have reworked for tactile depth.
I have noticed in Yakima the crosswalk bird sounds ...would you say that Yakima has a large blind/ hard-of-sight community? It's important to me that my collages are visually pleasing to the sighted as well as tactilly (is that a word?) uplifting for the blind...so the sighted might even close their eyes before looking at the piece, feel it, and experience something mind opening. I have looked on the internet for 'art for the blind' and I mostly see raised dot type design and sculpture.
Your work is so vivid and creative. I see why now...how moving.
Is your's the work at Masset in the old window panes?
